CWE-119  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 5.15.216, 6.1.183, 6.6.152, 6.12.104, 6.18.45, 7.1.9 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Access Restriction Bypass via the OnAuthClient function. An attacker can cause memory corruption and information disclosure by sending a crafted WLAN_EID_CHALLENGE element with an attacker-controlled length, leading to out-of-bounds writes or exposure of stale kernel memory during shared-key authentication. This is only exploitable if the device is within range of a malicious access point and is configured to use WEP shared-key authentication.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
