CWE-119  (opens in a new tab)

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 6.1.183, 6.6.151, 6.12.103, 6.18.44, 7.1.8 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Access Restriction Bypass through the vc4_overflow_mem_work process. An attacker can achieve arbitrary kernel memory corruption and potentially escalate privileges by submitting crafted GPU jobs that trigger a binner out-of-memory event, causing the GPU to write beyond allocated memory regions.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
