CWE-269  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 5.10.266, 5.15.217, 6.1.184, 6.6.153, 6.12.105, 6.18.46, 7.1.10 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Information Exposure through the restore_sigcontext process. An attacker can gain unauthorized read and write access to arbitrary physical memory by crafting a malicious signal frame and invoking the rt_sigreturn syscall, which allows manipulation of privileged CPU control bits.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
