CVE-2026-80582  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-787  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 7.1.10 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Out-of-bounds Write in the huge_fault process due to improper boundary checks when installing PMD huge page mappings. An attacker can achieve out-of-bounds read and write access to adjacent memory regions by creating a GEM buffer, mapping it with a non-PMD-aligned length near the end of a VMA, and triggering a page fault, potentially leading to memory corruption, kernel panic, or control-flow/data tampering.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
