CWE-476  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 6.6.157, 6.12.110, 6.18.51, 7.2.5 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to NULL Pointer Dereference in the f_midi2_free_ep_reqs function when cleaning up an endpoint that was never initialized. An attacker can cause a system crash by triggering the cleanup process on an uninitialized endpoint through specific configuration of the MIDI 2.0 gadget via configfs and setting the block direction to SNDRV_UMP_DIR_INPUT.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
