CVE-2026-98141  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-209  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 7.2.7 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Information Exposure in the update_reparse_data process due to improper error propagation from set_reparse_index. An attacker can cause the system to report successful creation of reparse data when none exists on disk by triggering a failure in the reparse index insertion, potentially leading to exposure of incorrect system state or misleading information to userspace applications.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
