CVE-2026-97965  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-457  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 6.6.160, 6.12.111, 6.18.53, 7.2.7 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Use of Uninitialized Variable in the vxlan_xmit_one process when both VXLAN_F_COLLECT_METADATA and VXLAN_F_GBP are enabled and a packet is transmitted using an external ip_tunnel_info lacking the IP_TUNNEL_VXLAN_OPT_BIT flag. An attacker can cause leakage of uninitialized kernel stack data onto the network by transmitting specially crafted packets through a misconfigured VXLAN device.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
