CVE-2026-98157  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-400  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 5.10.271, 5.15.222, 6.1.189, 6.6.158, 6.12.111, 6.18.53, 7.2.7 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Uncontrolled Resource Consumption in the poll_msec sysfs store process. An attacker can cause resource exhaustion and high CPU usage by providing a value less than 1 or a value greater than the maximum allowed unsigned integer, leading to unintended behavior such as a zero-delay poll loop.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
