CWE-119  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 6.6.160, 6.12.114, 6.18.53, 7.2.7 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Buffer Overflow in the virtio_gpu_object_shmem_init process. An attacker can access and manipulate memory belonging to other domains or the hypervisor by providing crafted guest-physical addresses, resulting in unauthorized memory reads and writes, potential data leakage, and system crashes. This is only exploitable if running as a Xen PV dom0 nested inside QEMU with virtio-vga and without iommu_platform, so VIRTIO_F_ACCESS_PLATFORM is not negotiated.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
