CVE-2026-97905  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-457  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 5.10.271, 5.15.222, 6.1.189, 6.6.158, 6.12.111, 6.18.53, 7.2.7 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Use of Uninitialized Variable in the cpufreq_policy_alloc process. An attacker can cause unintended attribute callbacks to execute on uninitialized policies by accessing sysfs attributes during a window where the policy->cpus cpumask contains uninitialized memory.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
