CVE-2026-98010  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-834  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 5.10.271, 5.15.222, 6.1.189, 6.6.158, 6.12.111, 6.18.53, 7.2.7 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Excessive Iteration in the drr_change_class process. An attacker can cause excessive CPU consumption and potential denial of service by configuring a class with a very small quantum value and a crafted size table, leading to the deficit-refill loop spinning under the qdisc lock. This is only exploitable if the DRR scheduler is enabled (CONFIG_NET_SCH_DRR=y) and the attacker has CAP_NET_ADMIN privileges in the relevant network namespace.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
