CWE-369  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 5.10.271, 5.15.222, 6.1.189, 6.6.158, 6.12.112, 6.18.54, 7.2.8 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Buffer Overflow due to improper validation of the tcp_rmem configuration parameter, which can allow the receive buffer size to be set below a safe minimum. An attacker can trigger a divide-by-zero exception in the tcp_rcvbuf_grow function by configuring the system with an extremely small receive buffer value, potentially causing a kernel crash and denial of service.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
