CWE-287  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 6.18.54, 7.2.8 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Access Restriction Bypass in the brcmfmac process due to improper initialization of auth_status, which can result in stack data being leaked to the firmware when the SSID is less than 32 bytes or when params->pmkid is set. An attacker can bypass authentication restrictions by exploiting this flaw to cause the firmware to cache invalid PMKID values, potentially allowing unauthorized association requests.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
