CWE-670  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 5.10.271, 5.15.222, 6.1.189, 6.6.158, 6.12.112, 6.18.54, 7.2.8 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Handling of Unexpected Data Type in the processing of ESP-in-TCP packets when the transport header offset cannot be represented after the TCP envelope is trimmed. An attacker can cause a kernel warning or potential denial of service by sending specially crafted network packets that exploit improper handling of the transport header offset.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
