CWE-476  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 5.15.222, 6.1.189, 6.6.158, 6.12.112, 6.18.55, 7.2.9 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to NULL Pointer Dereference in the smcr_port_err process due to traversal of smc_lgr_list.list without holding the corresponding lock, which allows a concurrent operation to free an object while it is still being dereferenced. An attacker can cause a denial of service or potentially execute arbitrary code by triggering concurrent access to the affected process.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
