CVE-2021-3864  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-284  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

There is no fixed version for torvalds/linux.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Access Control due to the way the dumpable flag setting was handled when certain SUID binaries executed their descendants. An unprivileged local user with eligible root SUID binary could use this flaw to place core dumps into root-owned directories, potentially resulting in escalation of privileges.

Mitigation:

Change /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern to an absolute, safe directory, this way, logrotate cannot be triggered.
