CWE-362  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 6.6-rc7 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition') in the "#VC handler" and "SEV-ES emulation of MMIO accesses" components. An attacker can gain arbitrary write access to kernel memory, leading to privilege escalation, by exploiting a race condition that allows userspace to replace an instruction before the #VC handler reads it.

Note:

This is only exploitable if the attacker has userspace access to MMIO registers.
