CVE-2023-6121  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-125  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

There is no fixed version for torvalds/linux.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Out-of-bounds Read in the fabrics-cmd.c file. This flaw allows a remote attacker to send a crafted TCP packet, resulting in a potential data leakage.

Workaround

This flaw can be mitigated by explicitly setting the kernel parameter to restrict unprivileged users from using dmesg: sudo sysctl -w kernel.dmesg_restrict=1

To make it persistent between system reboots: echo 'kernel.dmesg_restrict=1' | sudo tee -a /etc/sysctl.conf
