CVE-2024-0443  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-402  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 6.4-rc7 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Transmission of Private Resources into a New Sphere ('Resource Leak') due to improper handling in the blk-cgroup.c destruction path. An attacker with local access can cause system instability, such as an out of memory error, by exploiting the circular dependency that prevents blkcg and some blkgs from being freed after they are made offline.

Workaround

This flaw can be mitigated with the possible workaround identified below:

systemd.unified_cgroup_hierarchy=1

or

cgroup_disable=blkio
