CVE-2024-22705  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-125  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 6.7-rc8 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Out-of-bounds Read via the smb2_get_data_area_len function in the Linux kernel's SMB server implementation. An attacker can achieve out-of-bounds access and potentially read or modify memory that is outside of the intended buffer by sending a specially crafted SMB request that mishandles the relationship between Name data and CreateContexts data.
