How to fix?

Upgrade unbound to version 1.19.2 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Loop with Unreachable Exit Condition ('Infinite Loop') due to improper EDE message size check. An attacker can cause a denial of service condition by sending a specially crafted message that triggers an infinite loop.

Note: This issue can only be triggered when:

  • Unbound is configured with 'ede: yes' (non-default).
