CWE-122  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade vim/vim to version 9.2.0450 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Heap-based Buffer Overflow in the read_compound process when loading a crafted spell file with UTF-8 encoding active. An attacker can execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service by planting a malicious .spl file on the runtime path and leveraging a modeline in a text file to trigger spell file loading. This is only exploitable if the 'spelllang' option is set from a modeline and a malicious spell file is present on the runtime path.
