CVE-2026-3201  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-1325  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade wireshark to version 4.4.14, 4.6.4 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improperly Controlled Sequential Memory Allocation via the parse_report_descriptor() function in epan/dissectors/packet-usb-hid.c. An attacker can cause a denial-of-service by enticing the user to open a crafted pcap file containing a USB HID report descriptor with an unbounded USAGE_MAXIMUM/USAGE_MINIMUM range, forcing wmem_array_grow() to allocate excessive memory.
