CVE-2026-28847  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-120  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade wpe_webkit to version 2.52.4 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Buffer Overflow via the memory handling process. An attacker can cause an unexpected process crash or potentially execute arbitrary code by tricking a user into processing or loading malicious web content. This is only exploitable if the system is configured with specific packages such as evolution-data-server, glade, gnome-boxes, gnome-initial-setup, gnome-online-accounts, gnome-shell, shotwell, sushi, or yelp, and these are used via a graphical interface to process untrusted web content, for example through GNOME. In gnome-shell, exploitation may be possible from the local network without user interaction.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by not processing or loading untrusted web content with the affected software, or by removing the related packages if feasible.
