CWE-787  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade zephyrproject-rtos/zephyr to version 4.4.2-rc1 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Out-of-bounds Write in the uart_rx_enable process when invoked with a one-byte receive buffer and asynchronous UART configuration enabled. An attacker can cause single-byte memory corruption adjacent to the RX buffer, potentially leading to a crash or denial of service, by sending crafted UART RX data as a connected serial peer. This is only exploitable if asynchronous UART is enabled and the consumer enables RX with a one-byte buffer.
