CVE-2024-0853  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-295  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Wolfi curl to version 8.6.0-r0 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream curl package and not the curl package as distributed by Wolfi. See How to fix? for Wolfi relevant fixed versions and status.

curl inadvertently kept the SSL session ID for connections in its cache even when the verify status (OCSP stapling) test failed. A subsequent transfer to the same hostname could then succeed if the session ID cache was still fresh, which then skipped the verify status check.
