Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Use After Free via the gimp_item_list_named_new function in the app/core/gimpitemlist.c file. An attacker can execute arbitrary code by convincing a user to open a specially crafted XCF file.
This vulnerability can be mitigated by avoiding the opening of untrusted XCF files and, if not required, removing the application from the system using the appropriate package manager.
