Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Heap-based Buffer Overflow via the load_image function un the plug-ins/common/file-jp2.c file. An attacker can execute arbitrary code by convincing a user to open a specially crafted JP2 file.
This vulnerability can be mitigated by exercising caution and avoiding the opening of untrusted JP2 image files. Restricting the source of JP2 files to trusted origins can reduce the risk of exploitation.
