CWE-131  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade gimp to version 3.2.2 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Incorrect Calculation of Buffer Size in the PVR image loader when processing specially crafted PVR image files. An attacker can cause the application to crash by supplying a malicious PVR file that triggers a stack-based buffer overflow and out-of-bounds read. This is only exploitable if the system processes untrusted PVR image files and the PVR image loader is enabled.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by avoiding the processing of untrusted PVR image files, exercising caution when opening PVR files from unknown sources, or running the application in a sandboxed environment.
