The probability is the direct output of the EPSS model, and conveys an overall sense of the threat of exploitation in the wild. The percentile measures the EPSS probability relative to all known EPSS scores. Note: This data is updated daily, relying on the latest available EPSS model version. Check out the EPSS documentation for more details.

Start learningUpgrade samba
to version or higher.
Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Access Control due to broken wide links protection, by allowing a user to create a symbolic link that will make smbd
escape the configured share path.
Users who are unable to upgrade to the fixed version should not enable SMB1 (please note SMB1 is disabled by default in Samba from version 4.11.0 and onwards). This prevents the creation of symbolic links via SMB1. If SMB1 must be enabled for backwards compatibility then the unix extensions
= no
parameter should be added to the [global] section of the smb.conf
and then the smbd
service has to be restarted. This prevents SMB1 clients from creating symlinks on the exported file system.
However, if the same region of the file system is also exported using NFS, NFS clients can create symlinks that potentially can also hit the race condition. For non-patched versions of Samba it is recommended to only export areas of the file system by either SMB2 or NFS, not both.
